David Beckham’s £1million Indian footie talks

David Beckham

Goldenballs is being lined up to play in a football version of the megabucks IPL cricket league, which signs stars from round the world.
Becks, 38, has been approached along with former England teammate Michael Owen and ex-Spain legend Raul.
The franchise-based league of eight teams with 25-man squads would run from January 14 to March 13. And experts said Becks could easily pocket £1million for two months’ work. A source said: “Basically Becks can charge whatever he wants. What he would do for the league in terms of international interest and publicity is priceless.”
He announced his retirement from first-class football last month at the end of his season with French champs Paris Saint-Germain.
Becks — who starred for Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and AC Milan — was thrown into the air by the team to celebrate his last game.
He has confirmed he is keen to invest in a US club — as revealed by The Sun two weeks ago — but could put his boots back on. His agent told The Sun: “We’re aware of the interest.”
If football Indian-style does not appeal, below we feature other future globe-trotting ways for Becks to keep busy.

Restaurant - London

HE is due to open his first restaurant with hot-tempered chef Gordon Ramsay in September near South London’s Borough Market. Businessman Steve Wynn hopes they will open another in Las Vegas.

Stay-at-home dad - Beckingham Palace

FAMILY man Becks could be a stay-at-home dad — looking after Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, ten, Cruz, eight, and 22-month-old Harper while wife Victoria keeps the cash rolling in as a fashion designer.

Movie star - Hollywood

HUNKY Becks has been tipped to become a movie idol by one of Hollywood’s most powerful film moguls, Harvey Weinstein. Pal Tom Cruise could even help Becks make a name as an action star.

US soccer team - Miami

BUSY Becks was spotted with Bolivian billionaire Marcelo Claure at basketball play-offs in Miami last week, sparking rumours they might launch a Major League Soccer team in the sunshine city.

Endorsements - New York and Tokyo

LAST year, Becks pulled in an eye-watering £29million from endorsement deals with the likes of Samsung, Diet Coke, Motorola, Breitling, fragrance company Coty, Burger King and Sainsbury’s.

Sky TV - London

BECKS will be tackling Gareth Bale head-on in a TV battle. The Spurs star is helping launch BT Sport’s football coverage while Becks has just signed a £20million-plus five-year deal as a Sky TV ambassador.

Menswear label - Milan

STYLE icon Becks has modelled for Giorgio Armani and Burberry. He launched trainers with adidas and an underwear collection for high street store H&M. Setting up his own menswear label could be next.

Ambassador - Beijing

HOPING to tap into the Beckham effect, China appointed him special ambassador for football in March. His role involves attending matches and visiting clubs to inspire young kids to take up the sport.
